Here we have for sale a beautifully reconditioned (by us) Jaguar E-Type close ratio all syncro gearbox with matching numbers & fitted with a rare 3.8 bellhousing that has had the all important machining carried out to allow it to fit onto the all syncro gearbox.reconditioned (by us) Jaguar E-Type close ratio all syncro gearbox with matching numbers & fitted with a rare 3.8 bellhousing that has had the all important machining carried out to allow it to fit onto the all syncro gearbox.This gearbox came to us in part exchange against one of our 5 speed Getrag conversion kits. It was missing a fair few bits, such as the selector top, rear oil pump housing, propshaft flange & speedo drive components. We were asked to quote the customer a price to obtain all the missing parts & then recondition the whole gearbox, the customer then decided to opt for one of our Getrag 5 speed conversion kits instead. So I've slowly accumulated these missing parts at great cost to be able to offer you a complete ready to fit reconditioned gearbox.The reconditioning process is as follows: complete strip down to component level, certain items such as bearings & oil seals are discarded routinely at this point. The whole thing is then chemically cleaned & inspected - anything not within tolerance or vaguely worn is escorted to the scrap bin. Once the main case has been cleaned we then make our own gaskets for the rebuild by 'tapping them out' from the main case, it's then etch primed & then painted black. The bellhousing & oil pump housing are aqua blasted, but alas on this occasion we missed the opportunity to get the selector top aqua blasted at the same time & so that has been painted. Each syncro ring (brand new original old stock) is lapped in to it's respective gear & kept with that gear to ensure 100% efficient operation. The whole gearbox is then carefully assembled using a brand new layshaft, brand new layshaft rollers, all brand new mainshaft rollers & bearings along with the hand made gaskets & new oil seals - it's completed & ready to be fitted to your pride & joy.There is also a fairly comprehensive photographic history of the rebuild available at no extra cost. We believe you'll genuinely not find a better quality reconditioned gearbox than we produce, along with the attention to the cosmetic detail we have included the machined 3.8 bellhousing, clutch release arm, mounting pin & speedo drive.
